Ospedale San Giovanni di Dio

[lang_pt]

This Hospital was founded in 1382 by Simone Vespucci (great uncle of Amerigo Vespucci who baptized the American continent) and was dedicated to the treatment of the poor and of the pilgrims. This tradition of charity from merchants and manufacturers of silk has left many marks in what is now Florence’s historic center. The hospital was renovated around 1700 and the staircase where the concert took place was the work of Tiacciati (1735).
