Esta semana ficou marcada pela conclusão da primeira fase do trabalho de uma equipa, onde representei o IST, para a elaboração de um protocolo entre o Ministério da Administração Interna (MAI), o IST e a Associação Industrial Portuguesa (AIP). Este protocolo visa as tecnologias para a área da segurança interna.
A cerimónia de assinatura decorreu no dia 7 de Abril no IST e foi complementada com a apresentação de alguns demonstradores desenvolvidos por investigadores ligados ao IST. Entre outros, apresentou-se o robô de busca e salvamento RAPOSA™, um sistema de aquisição de dados biométricos que podem ser usados na formação de polícias medindo a sua resposta em situações de tensão, o sistema de vigilância florestal CICLOPE e um quadrotor autónomo que pode transportar câmaras de vigilância.
O sistema de medição do nível de ansiedade foi testado no Ministro da Administração que não reagiu quando lhe perguntaram questões sobre o IRS, mas o indicador começou a subir na pergunta de quanto era 8 vezes 7. No discurso comentou que deverá ainda haver alguma suspeita no IST em relação aos licenciados em direito pois só assim compreende terem-no ligado a um polígrafo e perguntado quanto era 8 vezes 7.

This week was marked by the conclusion of the first phase of the work of a team, in which I was included on behalf of IST, for the elaboration of a protocol between the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the IST and the Portuguese Industrial Association (AIP). This protocol aims at technologies for the area of internal security.
The signing ceremony took place at IST and was complemented by the presentation of some demonstrators developed by IST researchers. Among others, it was presented a search and rescue robot named RAPOSA™, a system for acquisition of biometric data that can be used for police training by measuring responses in stressful situations, a forest fire monitoring system named CICLOPE and an autonomous quadrotor that can carry surveillance cameras.
The system for measuring the anxiety level was tested on the Ministry of Internal Affairs that did not react when asked questions about his taxes, but the indicator began to rise on the question of how much was 8 times 7. In the speech, he comented that there must be some suspicions against lawers at IST being the only explanation to have been wired to a polygraph and asked how much was 8 times 7.
